The 2024 ride is underway

The 2024 ride is underway! The first leg riders completed their miles on Thursday, packed up and headed for home. Justin Elder, Kyle Swartout, and John Konrad enjoyed three days of riding along the Root River Trail as well as the Harmony Preston Valley State Trail. Matt Stepanek was back as the leg 1 support driver/team chef. The weather cooperated for the most part with the exception of a day 1 rain storm and a gusty day 3 headwind. The riding itself proved to be somewhat unremarkable, short of some close calls with wildlife and poorly maintained trail sections. The team concluded their day on Tuesday with a trip to the B&B Olympic Bowling Alley in Preston to watch the Timberwolves. Other highlights included a pancake and sausage breakfast on Wednesday and delicious grill-pressed Cuban sandwiches for dinner. Overall it was an excellent 3 days of riding, filled with good times and hard laughter. All good things must come to an end, and the team passed the torch to the leg 2 riders to continue on.
